It will explore the impact of disability on growth and development: physical, intellectual and social dimensions. It will also focus on the assessment of disability and implications for designing educational programmes. Sensitization to the problems and needs of special children will be a key focus area.

This course is aimed at developing an understanding on issues and concepts in peace education. Its main focus is developing a sense of peace within one's own self, human relationships and society. It consists of five lectures and three to four workshops. The speakers will include educators, philosophers and practitioners who have worked in this area on themes such as peace as justice, self development, and harmony in interpersonal relationships.

| Introduction to Biotechnology & Bioinformatics |

The emerging fields of biotechnology & bioinformatics combine the streams of botany, zoology, microbiology and advanced computer applications. The course aims to study the application of specialised molecular techniques to the discovery, development and manufacture of biopharmaceutical agents, genetically modified crops, transgenic animals for drug production, gene therapy, to mention a few. This course will be useful for students intending to pursue higher studies in Life Science and Biotechnology.
