- In exceptional cases, students who have passed class XII in earlier years may be considered for admission on providing valid reason and submission of proof for the gap years.
- Where grades are given in School, transfer of grades to marks will be in accordance with the norms of Association of Indian Universities.
- For admission to Gargi College, candidates should qualify within the cut-off percentages (including subject weightage) after taking into account negative weightage for certain subjects as declared by the college.
There is no discrimination inadmission criteria for Hindi medium students. However, at GargiCollege the medium of instructionis English in all courses except in the discipline of Political Science. How to Apply - The candidate should have filled the common pre-admission form (OMR form) of the University of Delhi as Gargi College does not have its own pre-admission form. Gargi College Code and relevant Course Code should have been selected / ticked in the form.
- The college will display minimum cut off percentages of Class XII aggregate marks for each Course, along with all other criteria for admission, on days prescribed by the University and as given under Admission Schedule of this prospectus.
- On being eligible for admission to Gargi College as per the college criteria, the candidate may fill the College Admission form on prescribed days of admission and submit it along with the required documents and fees.

MedicalFitness and Participation Certificates for admission on sports basis. 9. ParticipationCertificates for Extra-Curricular Activities for admission on ECA quota. 10. 1Stamp-sized photograph to be affixed on the admission form. 11. Aphotocopy of the common pre-admission form (OMR form) of the University of Delhiin which the GargiCollege code and coursecode have been selected by the candidate. 12. Copyof receipt of prospectus of this college. *Self-attested copies will be accepted. It is made clear that ifany false attestation/falsified records are detected, the student will bedebarred from attending any course in the University or its college(s) for nextfive years and in addition, a criminal case under relevant sections of IPC(viz. 470, 471, 474 IPC etc.) will be instituted against her to subject her tothe requisite criminal proceeding. Ø The candidates name in the application form shouldbe the same as in the birth Certificate. Please add father's names/surnameto avoid confusion between identical names while tabulating marks at a later stage. Ø Indicate your preference for the medium ofinstruction wherever applicable Provisional Admission Candidates who are unable to produce any of the certificatesrequired for admission, because their University / Board has not issued thesame till the date of admission, will be given provisional admission till 6thAugust, 2010 by which date they are required to submit all the relevantcertificates, failing which their admission will be cancelled. The candidates must bring their parents/guardians at thetime of admission for signing the admission form in presence of the teacher -in - charge of admissions. If a candidate is eligible for admission as per the criteriain the first admission list, then the fees must be deposited within thestipulated time along with the relevant documents. Once the next admission list is declared thecandidates eligible from the previous list will not be considered foradmission. Eligibility Criteria for different streams 1. Admission to Courses in Humanities andCommerce: - Aggregate will be based on Best Four subjects, which will include one language plus three electives of the academic stream of Senior Secondary Level listed in this prospectus under "subjects taught at Senior Secondary level. Negative Weightage for certain subjects will apply. (See box below)
- For vocational subjects pursued in class XII, see Box below on Negative Weightage.
- For admission to each course under Humanities and Commerce, the eligible cut-offs will vary according to the stream (viz. Arts, Commerce and Science) the candidate has pursued in class XII. For all B.A. (Hons.) Courses, there may be an additional pre-requisite of minimum cut-off in the subject of specialization and/or in language.
3. Negative Weightage for Certain Subjects of Class XII Out of the Best Four subjects, only one of thefollowing from the Academic Streamlisted under "Subjects taught at Senior Secondary level" can be included: Engineering Drawing,Home Science, Fine Arts, Agriculture, Physical Education, Music, Dance, Fashion Studies - The college reserves the right to add or to delete from the above list.
- Where one of these is part of the Best Four, there will be a negative weightage, that is, a deduction of 4% will be made from the aggregate for purpose of eligibility.
- No subject from the Vocational Stream will be considered for inclusion in the Best Four for B.A.(Hons.) and B.Com Honours.
- B.A.(Prog.): In Best Four only one of the above mentioned subjects of the Academic Stream OR only one subject from the Vocational Stream (as listed in this prospectus under "subjects taught at Senior Secondary Level") can be included. In either case a negative weightage of 4% will be accorded. Please note that seats in certain discipline options are limited and will be offered on first-come-first-served basis. Mathematics in Class XII is a prerequisite for the following discipline options : Economics, Operational Research and Mathematics. It however need not be part of Best Four.
- B.Com.(Prog.): Only one relevant subject from vocational stream can be included in Best Four.
Apart from the above conditions, in general eligible cut offpercentage will vary according to subject combinations of the applicants forall courses and these will be notified on the college notice board on admissiondays. Admission under different Quotas ScheduledCastes/Scheduled Tribes/Physically Handicapped/Relatives of Defence Personnelinjured/killed in war/Kashmiri Migrants Admission under above categories will be done by the University of Delhi. Such candidates may consult the bulletin of information on admissionsissued by the University. Admissions under OBCcategory For admission under OBC category the candidate must submitthe caste certificate (OBC, non-creamy layer). The caste should feature in the Central Government List of OBCs. There will be separate eligibility criteriafor admission in this category and will be put up by the college along withcriteria for admissions in the general category on dates prescribed by the University of Delhi. All Caste certificates must be in the name of the applicant. Admission on the Basis of Extra-CurricularActivities (ECA) - Gargi College has an application form for admissions in the ECA quota. This will be available at the Gargi Information Centre at a cost of Rs.20/- per form from 28th May to 11th June 2010 from 10.00 am to 1.00pm. The form may also be downloaded from the college website (www.gargicollege.in). All other instructions are stated in the form.
- Candidates may apply in the following disciplines of ECA only: Music - Indian/Western; Dance - Indian/Western; Choreography; Dramatics - Hindi/English; Street Play; Debate - English/Hindi; Fine Arts; Photography.
- Selection Trials and Interview will be held on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th June, 2010. Candidates need to come on either of these dates only. Registration at 9.00 am. Candidates should bring their own instruments, players and costumes.
- Candidates will be considered for Trials only if they have relevant training, participation and achievement in the various categories listed above.
- They will be considered for admission only after Selection Trials and Interview.
- Relevant Certificates should be shown on the day of trials to the selection committee.
- List of selected candidates will be put up on 1st July, 2010.
- There may be an additional fee for trials.
- Failure to participate actively in the cultural life of the college will lead to cancellation of admission.
Admission on the Basis of Sports - Gargi College has an application form for admissions in the Sports quota. This will be available at the Gargi Information Centre at a cost of Rs.20/- per form from 28th May to 11th June, 2010 from 10.00am to 1.00pm. The form may also be downloaded from the college website (www.gargicollege.in). All other instructions are stated in the form.
- Applications will be accepted for the following sports only: Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Judo, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis and Volleyball.
- The University of Delhi is considering centralized sports trials this year. For further information please contact the office of the Dean, Students Welfare or The University Sports Council.
- In case the sports trials are left to the concerned colleges, as in previous years, the selection trials at Gargi College will be held on Monday, 14th June 2010 from 9.30 a.m. onwards. Candidates should report at 9.00 a.m.
- Candidates with original certificates and copies attested by the school principal and issuing authority of Inter Zonal, State, National and / or International level in the games relevant to the college only will be considered.
- Certificates of only last three years will be considered.
- Names of shortlisted candidates after selection trials will be displayed on the notice board in the evening. Only shortlisted candidates are required to report for interview the next day.
- If selected, a medical certificate from a reputed hospital besides a medical checkup in the college is mandatory. Any candidate failing the check-up would not be granted admission.
- An undertaking on a Rs.10/- stamp paper needs to be submitted regarding regularity in attendance, in sports as well as in academics.
- Irregularity in attendance would result in penalties, cancellation of admission or detention from taking University examination, depending on the magnitude of default.

If the fees are not paid within the stipulated period, the grant of admission is liable to be cancelled.
- The fee is to be paid in Cash only at the State Bank of India Extension Counter inside the college premises between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on prescribed days. No cheques will be accepted.
- All students have to pay the full fees. Needy students may subsequently apply for financial assistance with supporting documents, from the college welfare fund. The college will put up a notice seeking applications in August.
- Cancellation of Admission
Fee refund against cancellation of admission will beas follows: - For B.A.(Hons.) Business Economics - Full fee less Rs.1000/- uptil 16th August 2010. After 16th August 2010, there will be no refund.
Forall other courses: - Upto 31st July, 2010 - full refund of fee less Rs. 5/-
- Between 1st August 2010 to 16th Aug, 2010 - full fee minus Rs.35/-.
- After 16th August 2010 - No fee refund.
Fee refund will be considered only throughthe prescribed withdrawal form of the college Post-Admission Modalities - If the student has not passed Hindi in class VIII at school, a compulsory test in Hindi conducted by the University, is required to be taken. Such students should give their names to the college office when the college reopens.
- For each course there is a University Examination at the end of each academic year or semester as applicable. Promotion to the next class will be in accordance with university rules.
- The University examination form has to be filled in by every student by 30th September 2010 for the annual examination and by 30th August 2010 and 30th January 2011 respectively, for the Semester Examinations. Beyond these dates there will be penalty as per DU rules
- The student may at all times carry stamp-sized photographs for use in college ID card, library membership card and examination form.
