Gargi College strictly follows the ordinance laid down by the University of Delhi on attendance requirement as prerequisite for taking the semester/annual examination. Hence admission seekers and their guardians are requested to make a note of this. Please note the following:
The attendance rules as per University of Delhi guidelines are:
Minimum attendance required to appear for the exam
General students – 66.7 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects for three years
ECA students – Physical attendance of 33 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects for three years.
The student cannot be detained in the odd semester.
At the end of second semester
General students – 40 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects with an undertaking for covering the shortfall to sit in the examination.
ECA students – Physical attendance of 20 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects with an undertaking for covering the shortfall to sit in the examination.
At the end of fourth semester
General students – 50 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects with undertaking.
ECA students – Physical attendance of 25 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects with the undertaking.
At the end of sixth semester
General students – 66.7 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects
ECA students – Physical attendance of 33 % (lectures + Practical’s + Tutorials); Consolidated all subjects
The following steps are to be followed:
1) A letter should be sent to parents of all those students who are short of attendance
a) Before mid-semester break in October.
b) Before 1st , 3rd, 5th semester exam
c) Before mid- semester break in December
d) Before 2nd, 4th , 6th semester break
2) TIC/CIC shall prepare lists of students who are short of attendance with his/her recommendation about detaining or not detaining students.
3) Finally, the Principal shall review the situation and take an appropriate decision with the help of a duly constituted committee.
Pink Slips
Pink slips for ECA attendance signed by the convenor should be submitted at least 10 days prior to the dispersal of classes in each semester. Pink slips submitted within ten days of an event will be appreciated.
