EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CELL
The equal opportunity cell of the college, set up in 2010,  is a multidisciplinary group which undertakes many activities with the objective of sensitizing the students regarding the challenges faced by the disadvantaged groups of the society. The cell is committed to provide an equal platform to every student.The cell addresses the issues of access and equality.

Vision

We envision a community that upholds dignity, celebrates diversity, and nurtures an environment free from discrimination, enabling every individual to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.

Mission

The mission of the Equal Opportunity Cell is to promote equity, inclusion, and equal access to opportunities by creating a supportive and enabling environment for all students. Through awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives, sensitization workshops, and student-centric interventions, the Cell strives to foster an inclusive campus culture that upholds the values of justice, dignity, and diversity. We are committed to empowering students to overcome barriers, develop their full potential, and contribute to a more equitable and socially responsible society.

Society Activities

Academic Year: 2024–2025

Activity 1: Intra-College Slogan Writing Competition

  • Date: 20 September 2024
  • Number of Students Attended: 30
  • Number of Students Participated: 30

The Equal Opportunity Cell organized an Intra-College Slogan Writing Competition to encourage students to creatively express ideas on equality, inclusion, and social justice. The activity provided a platform for participants to reflect on the importance of equal opportunities while showcasing their creativity through impactful slogans.

Activity 2: Intra-College Poster Making Competition

  • Date: 21 September 2024
  • Number of Students Attended: 35
  • Number of Students Participated: 45

The Poster Making Competition encouraged students to creatively depict themes of equality, inclusivity, and social justice through visual art. The activity promoted awareness of equal opportunities while providing participants with an avenue to express their ideas through innovative artwork.

Activity 3: Speaker Session

  • Theme: Rethinking Affirmative Actions in India
  • Guest Speaker: Dr. Niranjan Sahu
  • Date: 25 October 2024 (Please verify the year if required.)
  • Number of Students Attended: 150

The speaker session explored the evolving discourse on affirmative action in India and highlighted its role in promoting equity and social justice. The interactive discussion enabled students to engage with contemporary issues surrounding inclusion and equal opportunity.

Activity 1: Intra-College Slogan Writing Competition

  • Theme: Hindi – A Language of Unity, Inclusivity, and Cultural Diversity
  • Date: 27 September 2025
  • Number of Students Attended: 50
  • Number of Students Participated: 30

Organized to commemorate Hindi Diwas, the competition encouraged students to creatively express the role of Hindi in fostering unity, inclusivity, and cultural diversity. Participants showcased originality while promoting appreciation for the richness of the Hindi language.

Activity 2: Speaker Session

  • Theme: From Stigma to Structure: Caste and Social Production of Exclusion in India
  • Speaker: Dr. Prashant Negi, Associate Professor, K. R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit & Minorities Studies
  • Date: 18 November 2025
  • Number of Students Attended: 120

The session provided valuable insights into the structural dimensions of caste-based exclusion and emphasized the importance of creating equitable and inclusive environments. The interactive discussion and question-and-answer session encouraged critical thinking and active student participation.

Activity 3: Annual Academic Event – SAMATVA 2026
Theme: Towards a Just and Inclusive Tomorrow

A. Speaker Session

  • Theme: Equity in Developmental Discourse
  • Speaker: Prof. Amita Singh, Former Professor, Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University
  • Date: 7 April 2026
  • Number of Students Attended: 130

The keynote address focused on equitable development and social justice, covering themes such as purchasing power parity, disguised unemployment, patriarchy, equity, and governance. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session that encouraged meaningful dialogue.

  • Number of Students Participated: 25

The competition encouraged participants to examine multiple perspectives on contemporary social issues, promoting critical thinking, effective communication, and constructive dialogue.

2. Poster Making Competition

  • Number of Students Attended: 49
  • Number of Students Participated: 38

The competition provided students with a creative platform to visually express ideas on equity, inclusion, and social justice, fostering awareness and reinforcing the values of diversity and equal opportunity.
