Saksham – The Skill Development Centre (SDC) at Gargi College, University of Delhi, established under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), represents a key institutional step toward integrating academic learning with employability and industry readiness. Aligned with the essence of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Saksham bridges the gap between academics and employability through industry-aligned programs in two high-demand domains - Diagnostic Laboratory Techniques and Cybersecurity. The centre emphasises experiential learning, innovation, and professional excellence, preparing students to succeed in dynamic work environments.
The objectives of the Saksham are as follows:
Deliver practical, industry-aligned training in diagnostics and cybersecurity. Forge partnerships for internships and placements. Foster innovation, research aptitude, and entrepreneurship. Strengthen employability through joint certifications and real-world learning.
Scope and Significance: Saksham addresses India’s growing need for skilled professionals in healthcare and digital security.By integrating academic learning with vocational expertise,it strengthens employability, fosters innovation, and contributes to the socio-economic growth of the community.
Funding for the implementation of these two courses has been kindly granted by the Skill Enhancement Course Committee (SECC), University of Delhi. This financial support has enabled the initial setup of the Centre’s infrastructure and launch of its first two certification courses under the University of Delhi’s Skill Enhancement framework.

Collaborations and Industry Linkages: Saksham actively partners with industry leaders like Dr. Lal PathLabs for diagnostics training, internships, and joint certification. In cybersecurity, future partnerships with digital security firms and government agencies like C- DAC are being explored to enhance industry exposure and placement support.
