The establishment of an Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) centre , at Gargi College, University of Delhi, in the year 2025 aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s emphasis on integrating Indigenous Knowledge Systems into higher education. The NEP encourages universities to promote IKS to preserve, research, and disseminate India’s rich cultural, intellectual, and ecological heritage, to have holistic development. The IKS centre acts as a catalyst for original research, academic innovation, and cultural awareness, helping students connect with their indigenous traditions, develop critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and sustainable practices essential for balanced human development.
Gargi College IKS Centre is expected to benefit in the following areas:

• Enhance interdisciplinary research on Indian traditional knowledge, philosophy, and sciences.
• Promote cultural pride and inclusive education by integrating IKS into curricular and extracurricular activities.
